  Central Ward

Following the submission of the planning application to Knowsley Council, the Labour councillors for Kirkby Central ward, Jackie Harris, Marie Stuart and Bill Brennan, carried out an extensive door-to-door survey of local residents during February 2008.

They knocked on 1,553 doors in the ward during the morning, afternoon and evening to try to speak to as broad a cross-section of the community as possible.

The councillors asked each resident "are you for the proposals or are you against?" and where respondents answered in favour of one aspect of the poll, but against another, these were recorded as "uncertain".

Results of the survey

863 people were in and responded

- In favour: 410 (48% of respondents)
- Opposed: 240 (28% of respondents)
- Uncertain: 213 (25% of respondents)

Although these results were obtained using a different methodology, they are consistent with the independent ICM poll commissioned by George in the summer of 2007. Click here for details.
